The first brief excerpt is from a critique Bahnsen did of an article by Normal Geisler, the second article is by our good friend Nelson Kloosterman who is responding to a recent book that is pushing natural law and the last one is by Gary North.
This is by Gary North. North basically says natural law theory is unbiblical in that it:
- Rests on man’s autonomy
- Is based on the sufficiency of man’s reason
- Embraces a somewhat autonomous universe
- Embraces a common & shared ethic of all revealed religion
In short… natural man does not receive the things of the spirit in matters of social theory and policy. They are rejected by him because they are divisive and threaten his autonomy.
North is right…. natural law theory is insufficient for the ordering of society and for the transformation of culture.
